Since 2008, the EPS, s.r.o. company operates a biogas plant that was built between 2006-2007, and which is intended for the processing of organic materials and wastes by the method of thermophilic anaerobic digestion. It is an anaerobic process running under specific temperature and microbial conditions, in which the organic matter decomposes with the simultaneous generation of biogas. Anaerobic fermentation runs inside the fermenter with the volume of 4000 m3. The temperature in the fermenter is maintained between 55-57 °C by the waste heat from the cooling circuits of cogeneration unit. The biogas forming inside the fermenter is collected in a gas holder and used in the cogeneration unit for the production of electricity and heat.
The EPS, s.r.o. company's biogas plant provides processing of the swine manure, agriculture phytomas, and biomas. Other materials such as sugar beet chips or apple peelings may be used as entry resource materials.
